Gwen Kinsey has been training hard in preparation to defend her European Championship title in Portugal on Friday 27th May. She won the European Sprint Triathlon AC Championships in Geneva last year. Gwen competing in the 40-44 age category was also 5th overall in a field of 268 athletes only 1min 48 seconds behind winning 20 -24 age group athlete from Poland!
The Bike Works is part of Gwen’s support team servicing and preparing her Orbea bike for races. Gwen came into the workshop to receive tuition from our mechanic Luke Hodgkins in packing and reassembling her bike for transportation in a bike box to this years championship in Lisbon. The sprint triathlon distance involves a 750m swim, then a 20km bike section, we want her bike to be absolutely right to deliver Gwen with the best advantage as she completes the race with another 5km run.
Following her sprint triathlon championship in Lisbon she will be flying out the following week to Aviles, Spain for the 5km run, 20km bike, 2.5km run World Duathlon Championship event.
We wish Gwen well and hope she can bring home a medal or two to reward the big effort she has put into these competitions. Go Gwen !
